Funeral service for Thomas L. Hughes , 89, will be Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Crump officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Hughes died on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born February 2, 1936, in Madison County, to Jessie C. Hughes and Louise Cook Hughes.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran, prior to his retirement. While serving he was stationed at multiple Air Force Bases in the U.S. as well as Spain. During his time in the military he served in the Vietnam War before returning home to the U.S. and serving until retirement.

After retirement from the Air Force, Thomas spent his life as a tradesman and private contractor before becoming an owner operator truck driver until his final retirement.

Thomas loved to travel and never could quite settle down in one place for very long. When he did, his spare time was spent doing hobbies like woodworking and building model airplanes. He enjoyed binge watching westerns with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, Star Trek, and game shows. He always enjoyed time with family and talking about his days in the military and experiences in the places he had traveled to.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Shirley Hughes and his parents.

Survivors include his children; Tammy Moina (Jose), Cynthia R. Surber, Keith Hughes (Margarta), Terry Silas (Melissa) and Chris Hughes, Fourteen Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren

United States Air Force will serve as pallbearers.
