Funeral service for Sandra Jean "Sandy" DeMonia, 84, will be Tuesday, September 29th, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Peck Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 29th, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Peck Funeral Home.

Sandra DeMonia passed away on Monday, September 21st, 2026 at her home in Hartselle, Alabama.

Sandra Jean Bulkley DeMonia, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and woman of deep faith, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations of her family.

Sandra was born on August 3, 1942, in Bath, New York, to Frederick J. Bulkley and Mary Elizabeth Bronson Bulkley. She was the oldest of eight children and took great pride in being part of a large, loving family. She cherished her brothers and sisters throughout her life and carried those family bonds with her always.

Following high school, Sandra answered a call to serve her country and joined the United States Air Force. She completed her basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, before being stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She often spoke fondly of her years in Washington and was especially proud of her time in the Air Force and the opportunity to serve her country. While stationed there, she met her first husband, Ronald Drouillard, who would become the father of her two children, Michelle and Derek.

In 1963, Sandra moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she began raising her family. She was a devoted mother and worked hard to provide a loving home for her children. In 1978, demonstrating the determination and perseverance that defined so much of her life, Sandra returned to school and earned her nursing credentials. She began what would become a more than 35-year career in nursing, initially working at the Cleveland Clinic then Decatur Morgan Hospital. Caring for others was not simply a profession for Sandra, it was a reflection of the compassion and generosity she carried throughout her life.

In 1985, Sandra relocated to Hartselle, Alabama, with her husband, Bill DeMonia, and made Alabama her home. She was fortunate to live next door to her sister in law, Jane DeMonia, and the two shared a special friendship and countless good times together. It was there that she entered one of the most treasured chapters of her life: becoming a grandmother and, later, a great-grandmother.

Being a grandmother and great-grandmother brought Sandra immeasurable joy. She treasured every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and considered them among the greatest blessings of her life. She took great pride in watching her family grow and loved nothing more than being surrounded by the people she loved.

Above all else, Sandra was a woman of deep and abiding Christian faith. She loved the Lord with all her heart and sought to live her life according to her faith. She was a longtime member of Hartselle First Assembly, where she attended for more than 30 years and was actively involved in Sunday school. She was an avid reader of her Bible, and her relationship with God was at the center of who she was.

Perhaps Sandra's greatest legacy is the faith she planted in her family. She wanted her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to know and love the Lord, and she faithfully shared that foundation with each generation. The seeds of faith she planted will continue to grow in the lives of those she leaves behind.

Sandra also had a fun and wonderfully unique side. She was a devoted science-fiction fan and could happily spend an afternoon binge-watching Star Trek. She also loved Gunsmoke and enjoyed the simple pleasure of settling in with one of her favorite shows. These little things brought her comfort and joy and are among the memories her family will treasure.

Sandra will be remembered for her strong faith, her love of family, her years of caring for others as a nurse, her pride in serving her country, and the immense love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, family, and love. While she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that the faith she cherished so deeply is now her eternal home.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Michelle Drouillard Wilson, her son, Derek Drouillard, her stepson, Billy DeMonia, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved sister, Annette Hoad, brothers Robert "Bob" Bulkley, Fred Bulkley Jr, Bill Bulkley, Richard Bulkley and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill DeMonia, brother Carl Bulkley, sister Joyce Bulkley and stepson Shane DeMonia.

Her greatest legacy will not be measured in years or accomplishments, but in the people she loved, the lives she cared for, and the faith she passed from one generation to the next.
