Funeral service for Rebecca Jean Dunaway Greer, 81, will be Friday, July 3, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Granddaughter - Sarah Smith Russell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.    Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, July 3, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Greer passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Summerford Nursing Home.  She was born February 19, 1945, in Morgan County,  to John Melvin Dunaway and Cora Alverta Lyle Dunaway.

She was employed as a Dietary Manager for Summerford Nursing Home, prior to her retirement.  She was a member of the Falkville Church of Christ, was a wonderful homemaker, great cook, and talented seamtress. She also was a loving mother and wife, and was lovingly known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great grandchild.

She leaves behind her faithful companion of 17 years, her Black Pomeranian named "Bear".

Preceding her in death were her husband- Richard Greer, her parents, her infant son- Jeffrey Alan Greer, a sister- Nelda Holmes and one brother- J.C. Dunaway.

In hopes of furthering meaningful research of dementia for further generations, the family requests, In lieu of flowers or food, that donations be made to Florida Atlantic University and designate- The Brain Institute General Fund- fauf,fau.edu/funds/give/

Jayson Lee Greer (Monte),

Daughter - Laurie Smith (Daniel),

Grandchildren - Sarah Smith Russell (Jonathan),
Cody Smith (Chelsea),
Martin Greer (Tyler),
Carson Greer (Kinslee) and
IdaLee Cloud (Justin),

Great Grand Child - Mac Smith.

Pallbearers will be Cody Smith, Daniel Smith, Carson Greer, Martin Greer, Jonathan Russell, and Lyle Holmes.
