Ramona Etheredge Lindsey Roy

A celebration of life for Ramona Etheredge Lindsey Roy, 84, of Danville, will be held Sunday, August 30 at 4:00 PM at Central Baptist Church in Decatur with Pastor Rob Hatfield officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A private burial, for the family, will follow the service.

Mrs. Roy died on August 24, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Ramona was born May 7, 1942, in Florence, AL to Dr. Eli Hugh Etheredge and Ruby Williams Etheredge of Loretto, TN who preceded her in death, as did her husband Eddie “Sonny” Roy.

Ramona is survived by her sister Jeanette Etheredge Rawlston; half brothers Gene Etheredge and David Hanson; half sister Bonnie Hanson; her children Donna Lindsey Erickson (Paul), Thomas Jeffrey Lindsey (Gretta), Mark Etheredge Lindsey and stepson Thomas Roy (Penny). Eight grandchildren: Brandon (Rilee) and Cody Erickson; Caleb (Kate), Mallory and Ashley Lindsey; Brooke Durham, Samuel Roy (Jessica) and Michelle Roy Pierce (Tim). Eight great grandchildren: Cody Paul Erickson; Anna Lindsey; Davis Paul Erickson; Houston, Harlan, and Murphy Roy; and Savannah and Dalton Pierce. She treasured her family and loved each one dearly!

Ramona was employed by the US Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal for 35 years retiring as a Program Manager in 1995. After retirement, she continued to work as a volunteer for Decatur Youth Program, Morgan County Baptist Association, and Hospice of the Valley. She lived an active life loving her Lord, church (Central Baptist Church Decatur), traveling, camping, square dancing, and being on Smith Lake.

In lieu of flowers, family asks for memorial donations to be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home in Decatur, AL.
