Graveside Funeral Service for Mary Frances Charest, 78 of Somerville, will be 1:00 PM Monday, October 5, 2026 at Center Springs Cemetery. Brother Gary Dobbs will officiate.

Mrs. Charest died Saturday, October 3, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker and loving mother. She loved her family, nature, and writing poetry. She especially enjoyed sewing hundreds of dresses for orphanages in Africa.

She was married to her love for 59 years and was proud of her family. Mrs. Charest adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called her “Nanny.”

She was born February 24, 1948 in Morgan County to Glenn George Shirley and Jewel Bernice Orr.

She is survived by-

Husband – Dean Charest

Son – Jimmy Dean Charest (Cathy)

Daughters – Sandy Jo Charest and Debbie Charest Hopper (Randy)

Brothers – Wayne Shirley (Linda) and Phillip Shirley (Renee)

Grandchildren - Logan Charest, Josie Robinson (Justin), Jacob Charest, Raven Dukes (Keith), Kaleigh Hopper and Justin Charest

 and five great grandchildren

Family will serve as pallbearers.
