Funeral service for Martha Speegle Couey age 90 of Hartselle will be Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 2:00pm at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wally Blackman officiating with burial in the Hartselle Memory Gardens Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until 2:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Couey, who was born January 13, 1936, in Morgan County, to Charlie Speegle and Carrie Halbrooks Speegle, died on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Madison Manor Nursing Home in Madison. She was a member of the East Highland Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Army Missile Defense at Redstone Arsenal.

She was preceded in death by her husband; William Alvin Couey, her brothers; Ralph Speegle and Erskine Speegle, and by her sisters; Louise Vachule and Nellie Smith.

Survivors Include

Daughter:   Teresa Couey Snyder

Grandsons:    Walker Snyder (Mandy), and Hunter Snyder (Paige)

Great-Grandchildren:  Raylon, Myla, Sophia, and Camille Snyder
