Johnny "Big John" Barley, age 74, of Falkville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026. He was born on August 31, 1951, in Athens, Alabama, to Billy Ray Barley and Nancy Sandlin Barley.

Johnny graduated from Athens Bible School in 1969 before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps, from which he was honorably discharged in 1972. He spent his career working as a pipefitter, a trade he took great pride in.

He is survived by his son, Justin Barley (Mandy); his beloved grandchildren Claire and Aaron Barley, who knew him as "Pops"; his brother, Billy Ray Barley Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nancy Susan Barley; and his grandparents, John and Mabel "Sissy" Sandlin, whom he loved dearly.

Johnny loved watching sports and, above all, cherished time with his family. Affectionately known as "Pops", he had a special bond with his grandchildren, whom he lovingly called "Tater" and "Bubba".

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held.
