Jessie M.
Cosper
Feb 21, 1932 — Jun 25, 2025
Madison
A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Jessie Cosper, 93, will be Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Union Hill Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. No Visitation is scheduled.
Mr. Cosper passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Hospice Family Care. He was born February 21, 1932, in Morgan County, to Thomas Jefferson Cosper and Nellie S. Priest Cosper. He was born the son of a share cropper and had 10 siblings. Life was tough growing up in his family.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran, enlisting in 1950 and serving 20 years and 7 months. He spent most of his career in the U.S. but served one tour in Vietnam and 2 years in Okinawa. After retiring from the Air Force, he started working in Auto Body repair and did that for 15 years, and then had his own business for 15 more years before retiring.
He was a good father and husband to his wife and children. He was always very strict and was a disciplinarian and at times seemed very mean. In the long, run it made his children very good men and women. There were times it would seem like we didn't like him but, we all loved him whole heartedly with complete heart and soul.
After he retired, he became a Mason and a Shriner. He loved doing masonry and enjoyed doing things for his community.
One major thing about him was he wasn't a really religious man throughout his life, but he knew God. When he was in his late 70's, he got saved at church and became a real child of God. Amen.
Preceding him in death were his wife- Marjorie Cosper, his parents, his brothers- I.C. Priest, Edward Priest, Howard Cosper, Gilbert Cosper, and Hershel Cosper, and his sisters- Deanie Priest Screws, Ferne Bates, Helen Brock, Bessie Scott, and Kathryn Tucker.
