In Loving Memory of James Arnold Terry
March 22, 1948 - November 6, 2025
With deep love and sorrow, we celebrate the life of James Terry, a devoted husband, father, and Pawpaw, who peacefully passed away on November 6, 2025, at the age of 77.
James was the heart of his family—a man whose kindness, patience, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. He lived his life with quiet strength and unwavering love, always putting others before himself. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a word of encouragement, or simply sitting and listening, he made those around him feel valued and cared for.
As a husband, he was steadfast and loving—his marriage to Mary was a true partnership built on faith, laughter, and mutual respect. As a father, he led by example, teaching his son the importance of honesty, hard work, and compassion. As a Pawpaw, he was a source of comfort, laughter, and life lessons—teaching his grandchildren the power of perseverance and the beauty of never giving up, no matter how hard the road.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, his easy smile, and his ability to make everyone feel at home in his presence. His love was steady, his patience endless, and his legacy everlasting.
James is survived by his loving wife, Mary. His son, Donny (Sabrina)Terry. Step-children are Shannon (Aileen) Kirby, Whitney Eddy, Amy Kirby Stephens, Michelle Kirby, and Bryan Kirby. Grandchildren are Cal (Maggie) Terry, Brannon (Tia) Hall, Caden Winchester, Harper Kate Eddy, and Bella Kirby. Great-Grandchildren are Ainsley, Blakey, and Kaiden Hall. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Terry and Earline Jones Terry and brother Charles Terry.
He was the Safety Manager at Dunlop Tire from 1970 until it's close in 2003. In retirement, he became an electrician and used his skills to help others. He was employed by Calhoun Community College as an OSHA instructor. James loved spending time with his family, watching and playing golf, Alabama football, and fishing.
Visitation for Mr. Terry will be Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Forrest Chapel Cemetery. Brother Phillip Hines will be officiating with Peck Funeral Home assisting the family.
Pallbearers are Donny Terry, Cal Terry, Brannon Hall, Caden Winchester, Shannon Kirby, Luke Thomas, and Tyler Eddy.
Though we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing that his love lives on in each of us, and his spirit will forever guide and inspire our family.
