Obituary

Funeral service for James "Johnny" Johns, 89, will be Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 6:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Henderson and Bro. Tim McCormick officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Johns passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at his residence.  He was born November 13, 1936, in Talladega County,  to Marvin T. Johns and Beatrice Jones Johns.

He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was an Air Force mechanic, who had worked on Air Force One. He also worked for Monsanto for a time, in their maintenance department, in Decatur, and in later years drove a school bus for the Hartselle City School System prior to his retirement.  He was a follower of Jesus, and attended Tunsel Road Baptist Church. Johnny enjoyed Coon hunting, reading his Bible, and working in his yard.

His wife, JoAnn Johns, two daughters- Latitia Johns Vest and Lasonja Johns Pinkston, his parents, and two sisters- Betty Johns and Junita Johns, preceded him in death.

Survivors include

Son - Jameson Colt Johns Beavers,

Daughters - Laresa Johns and
Marlee Johns Beavers,

Brother - Wallace Delorian Johns,

Sister - Kay Johns Bennett (Joel),

Four Grandchildren,

Five Great Grandchildren,

Honorary Pallbearers will be Luke Vest, Tim Vest, Colt Beavers, Dylan Gore, Gavin Morse, and Lane Flowers.
