Funeral service for Gerald Ray Holmes, 67, will be Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Hopper officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Gum Pond Cemetery .  Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Holmes died on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Huntsville Hospital.  He was born September 15, 1958, in Etowah County,  to Royal Cephus Holmes and Mary Lucy Jane Holcomb Holmes.

He was employed by the Morgan County School System, as a teacher and coach, prior to his passing. He taught and coached for many years, primarily at Falkville High School. He loved his students. He enjoyed golf, playing chess, Estate Sales, helping others, and he loved his dog, Copper. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandkids.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Lisa Huffstutler, a grandson- Nathan Holmes, his parents, and brothers- James, Clifford, and Arthur Holmes.

Beth Bennett (Michael), and
Chelsea Bartee (Brandon),

Brothers - David Holmes,
Keith Holmes, and
Mark Holmes,

Sisters - Barbara Hosmer and
Brenda Walker,

Fourteen Grandchildren and
Five Great Grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Nephews.
