A graveside service for Mr. Eugene Oakes will be Monday, March 31, 2025 at Hough Cemetery with Bro. Glenn Hamer officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Oakes of Lacey's Spring, AL passed from this earth to his eternal home on Friday, March 28, 2025. He was born on April 29, 1951 to E. C. and Mary Oakes. Eugene was a simple country man who in his younger age loved hunting, boating, and fishing. He was a kind man who was adored by his family. He loved his family and friends. Everyone who knew him loved him. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father E.C. Oakes, mother Mary Oakes, sister Gwenda Oakes Miller, brother Marc Oakes and niece Michelle Miller.

The only kids he had were his nieces, Marian Miller, Lisa and Marston Parrish, and Jennifer Oakes (Dewayne). He especially loved his grands Maranda Smart, Cody Thornberry, MaryEllen Bloodworth, Haille Sloan and Damion Sloan.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Bloodworth, Cody Thornberry, Damion Sloan, Dewayne Sloan and Tyler Fortenberry.
