Obituary

A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Cheri Woodall Hawkins, 75, will be Friday, March 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Bro. Barry Semptrot officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cheri Woodall Hawkins passed away March 10th, 2025 at Crestwood Crestwood Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 15th, 1949 at Decatur General hospital to William Joseph Woodall and Mamie Irene George Woodall who preceded her in death.

Cheri was raised in Decatur alongside her younger brother, William Joseph Woodall III. She graduated from Austin High School in 1967 and continued her education studying business at Calhoun Community College, where she obtained an associates degree while working a part-time job on campus. Cheri went on to be successful in many different jobs throughout her lifetime.

On March 13th 1971, Cheri was married to Johnny Joseph Hawkins. Two years after marriage, Cheri and Johnny Hawkins were blessed with twin boys, Brandon and Heath Hawkins. She went on to be an amazing mother raising two wonderful men. Later in life, Cheri was made a grandmother by her four grandchildren, Mason Hawkins, Lane Hawkins, Abbie Hawkins, and Eli Hawkins. She retired from Lamar Law Office as a secretary and spent her free time crocheting gifts, cooking for her family, watching her grandkids excel in their school activities, shopping at thrift stores, and much more. She always had a kind heart, terrific cooking skills, and a bag of snacks for her grandkids and their friends. Cheri will be missed by many until reunited at the gates of Heaven.

She is survived by: her husband of 54 years, Johnny Hawkins, two sons; Brandon Hawkins (Wendy), and Heath Hawkins (Amy), her brother; Joe Woodall (Bridget), and four grandchildren; Mason Hawkins, Lane Hawkins, Abbie Hawkins and Eli Hawkins.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Hawkins, Heath Hawkins, Lane Hawkins, Eli Hawkins, Mason Hawkins, and William Woodall.

Family requests memorial donations be made to Harold Coomer Evangelistic Association, Decatur, Alabama.
