Funeral service for Brian William Opel, 75, will be Friday, June 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Steven Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville, Indiana. Visitation will be Friday, June 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints.

Mr. Opel passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at his residence. He was born May 1, 1950, in Illinois, to Earl Conway Opel and Marie Louise Brunner Opel, who preceded him in death.

He was employed by GM, Delco Remy, and Delphi Automotive, as a Chemical Engineer prior to his retirement. Born in Alton, Illinois, he was married to Vickie Lynn Hurst on August 15 of 1970, and then graduated from Purdue University with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering in 1972. He was a member of Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity. Vickie passed away on November 23, 2012, after 42 years of marriage. Brian then met and married Phyllis Langston on March 15, 2014. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Decatur.
