Anne Carol Abercrombie Ennis, 79, of Vestavia, Alabama, was born July 25, 1947 and passed away on October 5, 2026.

Anne grew up in Carbon Hill, Alabama, the daughter of Alvin and Earline Abercrombie. She later attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in General Studies and then earned her Master of Arts in Education. She devoted her professional life to teaching young children. She taught kindergarten through third grade, spending the majority of her career in the third-grade classroom. She retired from Green Valley Elementary School after many years of service to her students and their families.

Anne loved her family fiercely and cared deeply for the people in her life. She enjoyed the company of her friends and had a natural tendency to worry about those she loved, always wanting to know that they were safe, well, and cared for. She and her husband, Boyd, shared 60 years of marriage and built a life centered on family, commitment, and devotion to one another. She took great pride in her family and gave generously of herself to those she loved. Anne and Boyd enjoyed traveling together over the years, but the heart of her life was always her family. Her devotion to her husband, her son, her extended family, and the friends she cherished remained constant throughout her life.

Anne was a member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Arthur “Boyd” Ennis; her son, Dr. Arthur Boyd Ennis, Jr., and his wife, Dr. Joanne Rossman; her brother, Keith Abercrombie and his wife, Teresa; niece, Jenifer Abercrombie and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Earline Abercrombie, and her brother, Ron Abercrombie.
