Margaret Parker Weaver

May 27, 1925 ~ June 7, 2019 (age 94)

Funeral service for Margaret Parker Weaver, 94, will be Monday, June 10, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Moss Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Susan Parker officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Peck Funeral Home. Burial will be at Moss Chapel Cemetery.

Margaret Parker Weaver died on June 7 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 27, 1925, in Morgan County to Joe Parker and Ida Parker, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Morgan County High School in 1943. She married Samuel “Buddy” Weaver on June 2, 1944, in Hartselle. Together, she and Buddy purchased a sprawling farm to raise cattle, and owned the local Texaco gas station, “the store”, which Margaret continued to operate after his passing in 1968. Consequently, she became the sole parent and provider for her three young children. She ardently managed “the store” alongside her son, James, except on Sundays, when she faithfully attended her lifelong, family church, Moss Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a tough, strong-willed, vibrant, honest individual, who lived for her family, her work, and her farm.

She was the loving mother of a daughter, Judy Praytor (Mike), and two sons, Joe (Cheyenne) and James (Nancy). She was the proud grandmother of Margaret Ann Pirtle (Casey), Matt Praytor (Somer), Scott Praytor (Amanda), and Jo Lauren Weaver, and the great-grandmother of Maggie Praytor, Chase Praytor, Will Praytor, Callie Rae Praytor, and Hillary Pirtle.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Louise Wallace, and brother, Grady Atkins.

Pallbearers will be Mike Praytor, Matt Praytor, Scott Praytor, Casey Pirtle, Steve Atkins and Larry Madison.
