Euel Lamar James

February 9, 1934 ~ May 30, 2019 (age 85)

Funeral service for Euel Lamar James, 85, will be Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amy Vaughn and Rev. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. 

Mr. James died on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at his residence.  He was born February 9, 1934, in Morgan County to Judson Earl James and Emma Sandlin James.  He was a member of Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of the Men's Club of the church and a Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Gideons International and served on two mission trips to Haiti. As a graduate of Danville High School, Florence State Teachers College and A & M University, he became an Assistant Principal, a teacher and coached at Speake High School for 31 years. He also was in the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame.  He participated in the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay. After retirement from the school system, he worked at Shelby Contracting as a truck driver. Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers: Earl James, Bobby James and Billy James.

Renee Stephenson (Chris), Hartselle, AL

Shirley Thompson (Harold) and 
Sarah Dotson (Albert)

Four Grandchildren:
Sara Holland (Mike),
Christen Hines (Chris),
Matt Stephenson (Hailey) and 
Leah Stephenson

Two Great Grandchildren:
Marlee Hines and 
Reagan Holland

Special Friends:
Earl Gaspard and 
Tanya Shubert


Pallbearers will be Matt Stephenson, Mike Holland, Chris Hines, Gerald Garner, Allen Dotson, Danny James. Tim Thompson and  Will Mayfield.    

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class,     

In lieu of flowers: Memorial Donations may be made to the Gideons International, Manna for Kids (in care of Forrest Chapel Methodist Church) or to Meals on Wheels.
